Thrifting in San Diego: The Perfect Excuse for a Weekend Getaway!

By Kathleen McElroy

With finals (and Spring Break!!!) coming up, a lot of people are planning on traveling. I am personally going back home to San Diego, and I am very excited. With San Diego being so close and the Amtrak being so convenient and eco-friendly, I thought I would share three thrift stores I love in San Diego.

  1. Amvets Thrift Store

Amvets is by far my favorite thrift store. Near the San Diego International Airport, it is right off the highway, making it convenient and close to downtown. Amvets is organized incredibly well, with detailed signs pointing to specific locations and stocked racks filled with quite literally everything.  My favorite finds have been oversized t-shirts and sweatshirts. The only downside is that parking is limited and Amvets tends to get crowded, so be sure to arrive early in the morning to have the best thrifting experience!

2. Rancho Coastal Humane Society Thrift Shop

Located in Cardiff, the Rancho Coastal Humane Society Thrift Shop is trendy and gorgeous. The location allows shoppers to enjoy donuts at VG’s and a beach day after a few hours spent searching for fabulous finds.

3. Orphaned Objects

Orphaned Objects is a second-hand designer resale store located in Rancho Santa Fe. Orphaned Objects is a bit on the smaller end, as well as pricier end, so while navigating through the store, you are bound to find some gorgeous treasures.

Happy studying, shopping, vacation-ing and everything in between!
